Most UK independent boarding schools require international pupils under the age of 18 whose parents live overseas to have a UK-based educational guardian. A guardian provides a trusted local point of contact and supports the pupil’s welfare, travel and accommodation arrangements during exeats, half-terms and emergencies. Appropriate care and living arrangements must also be documented where required as part of the Child Student visa process.
An educational guardian acts as a trusted mentor, supporting pupils throughout their school journey, attending parents’ evenings and monitoring their academic progress and overall wellbeing. We recognise that every student faces different challenges as they adjust to a new school and environment. Drawing on our experience, we help each pupil navigate this transition with care, understanding and compassion..
We also understand the concerns parents may have and recognise that moving to a new country and school can feel overwhelming for a young person. From the earliest stages, we make every effort to prepare each pupil for their arrival in the UK and help them settle confidently into school life.
